The Performance and Competency Evaluation (PACE) Form officially replaces numerical grades for Grade 1 learners. Instead of assigning a single quarterly percentage or grade, teachers use the PACE form to progressively record qualitative evidence of a child’s foundational literacy, numeracy, and key developmental milestones throughout the school year.
Core Rating Scale & Descriptor Meaning
Under the revised Key Stage 1 evaluation guidelines, learners are assessed using a qualitative letter scale from C to E based on their skill progression and level of independence:
C (Consistently Demonstrates): Understands beyond expectations and demonstrates skill proficiency independently.
M (Meets Expectations): Fully meets grade-level standards and demonstrates performance consistency.
D (Developing): Displays developing skills and requires minimal guidance to complete tasks.
P (Progressing): Demonstrates emerging skills and requires regular guidance and encouragement.
E (Emerging): Beginning to show basic foundational skills; requires close supervision and targeted learning intervention.
