Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Alain Pascua, said on his Facebook post that DepEd public schools need more permanent clinics.
In the house committee hearing, the undersecretary shared that public schools in the Philippines need more permanent clinics.
“Kanina sa House committee hearing ng Committee on Basic Education, ibinahagi ko ang pangangailangan ng permanenteng clinic sa mga public school.” he said.

He also mentioned that only 28% of 47,013 public schools have their own clinics. Each clinic with the size of one whole classroom is worth 2.5 million pesos.
“28% lamang sa 47,013 na public schools sa bansa ang may clinic. Ang bawat clinic na kasing-laki ng isang classroom ay nagkakahalaga ng P2.5 million.” Usec. Pascua said.
He also mentioned that it is also possible to convert the unused classroom into a clinic and it will cost 450,000 pesos. The estimated funds needed will be P15.27 billion – P84.83 billion.
“Maaari din natin i-convert ang isang unused classroom sa halagang P450,000. Aabot mula P15.27 billion hanggang P84.83 billion ang kakailanganing pondo para dito.” he said.
“Kung maipapasa ito sa budget, pilit din nating nire-request ang kaakibat na pondo para sa kagamitan para sa mga school clinic na ito.” he added.
